On Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th, the Setomono Festival will be held in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, where Setomono was first created. This festival has been held since 1932 (Showa 7), before the war.
It began as an industrial festival to honor the legacy of Kato Tamikichi, the founder of porcelain, who went to Kyushu to train and dramatically improved porcelain manufacturing technology in Seto, where ceramic pottery production was the norm.

Now, it is the largest pottery market in Japan, attracting hundreds of thousands of people every year. The city of Seto is the most crowded with people. This year, about 200 exhibitors from Seto and around the country will be participating.

Thanks to Tamikichi's achievements, these porcelain dishes were brought to Seto. Shingama , which produces Seto Sometsuke ware, a traditional craft, appears in the Blue Square along the river. Fans flock to the area every year.

*Who is Tamikichi? For more information, please see this article .

Here is a list of exhibitors!

The venue is located immediately outside Owari Seto Station on the Meitetsu Seto Line, within a 500m radius. If you are looking for Seto ware potters, head to the area behind the bus stop behind the columned building "Party Seto" in front of the station.
Along the Seto River, potteries and ceramic artists from all over the country, including Seto no Tsukuri-te, which is not a member of the association, have set up stalls. If you have a specific place in mind, be sure to check this map before you set off.
Many pottery makers that Hitotsuchi carries will also be appearing!

This year, Ceramic Japan will be making an appearance. It's quite unusual, isn't it? They'll be selling unique products at festival prices, so it's definitely worth checking out!

Sojuen will also be releasing new cat-patterned tableware.

" MMYoshihashi " is located along the Seto River . I'm interested in their new Teru Teru Bouzu vase.

We will also be joined by Kitagama Kasen , the maker of the official Nagoya Castle souvenirs scheduled for release on Saturday, October 5th! Located along the Seto River.
If you are looking for something special, please check the location before you go. There are a lot of people, so it's easy to get lost.
My personal favorite is "Saitama Monohiroba"
"Saitama Mono Hiroba" is extremely small on the map, located at the very edge.
However, the number of participants is substantial. This is an area where young artists are featured, run by Gallery Taiyo in Seto City.

This year, for the first time in five years, ceramic artists Daisuke and Yoko Murai will be participating!
I'm also interested in Yoshiaki Ashikawa , who graduated from Suigama and went independent at Fuji Pottery . Others include Manabu Saguchi of Seto Kiriko and Rina Kawai, who works at Sakusuke Kiln.

Our sister store, Masukichi , will be open as a cafe from 11:30am to 9pm as a place to relax! It's a 2-minute walk from the Seto Ginza Shopping Arcade. Spice curry shop SOWA CURRY and clay manufacturer Chubu Denki will also be making guest appearances!

To get to Masukichi, turn the corner at Gallery Moyu and go straight. Also, Aiko Sato , a kneaded porcelain artist whose work is exclusively available at Moyu, will be in the gallery.
The venue around the station is a battlefield of pottery buyers and sellers, and the shopping street is like a lazy river. Things can get pretty heated, so if you want to escape the hustle and bustle, be sure to come on a day off. We have seating in the garden and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms available.
"Tsukurite Center" site. New Century Crafts Museum trainee area
The New Century Crafts Museum always has some wonderful ceramic and glass artists working as trainees, so I keep an eye on it. I'm looking forward to seeing who will be there this year. These two are participating again this year and are recommended.

Glass artist Nakamura Mana . Her unique, lifelike shapes are very cute.

Kyoichi Mori creates robots out of ceramics! Fans of his work will be thrilled.
Hitotsuchi holds a local toy festival

We are holding a "Local Toy Festival" in store.

Our special guest will be " SETO TOTEMPOLE ," who hand-carves totem poles from thinned wood in Seto! What kind of totem pole will he bring this time? Rumor has it that a limited edition "gold" totem will be available, so look forward to it.
In addition, Hitotsuchi staff will be selling the stylish and adorable local toy brand "Toy Workshop" in store! Why not bring some healing and warmth into your daily life?
Our business hours are scheduled to be from 9am to 5pm. We may be open a little longer. Thank you for your support!

About a five-minute walk from Hitotsuchi, ceramic artist Ryo Fukada exhibits and sells his works in his studio. The location is incredibly convenient. Embark on a journey of color with the magician of glazes.
Experience the essence of the production area. The annual pottery market by Seto Hongyo Kiln

Seto Hongyo Kiln holds a "Ceramics Festival" once a year, a storehouse sale. It's about a 15-minute walk from Suehirocho Shopping Arcade. I'm sure there will be some of their apprentices who are also active as artists, so keep an eye out for all you ceramic enthusiasts!
In addition, Rika-chan, the fourth generation owner of Cafe NISSIN , will be appearing on this day .
It is also the day to unveil the Kamayoko Cafe on the premises. Until now, the famous " Medicinal Tea Soybeanflour " cafe, located near Jokoji Temple and featuring a waterfall, has moved here. Please come and witness the unveiling.
*For reference on how to get around, please also check out last year's article !
If you are looking for a parking space, click here

There are few parking lots, and most of them seem to be located a little far from the venue area.
P2 and P3 are expected to be the parking lots that many people are aiming for, and last year they filled up quickly, and I saw cars just waiting, unable to turn back. P1 might actually be better.
Please note that other parking lots are about a 1km walk away!
I'll be there alone, waiting for you. Everyone, please come and visit.
